Our Work in Colombia
Colombia is a Hague-certified country with a stable, efficient adoption system. Bethany Global works closely with Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar (ICBF), the central authority for adoptions in Colombia, and partners with private orphanages including La Casa de la Madre y el Nino, CRAN, and FANA. Due to a variety of factors such as poverty and violence, there are more than 5,000 children in Colombia who are in need of homes. Bethany is committed to finding permanent, loving families for these precious children!
Meet the Children
Children eligible for international adoption are typically children of all ages with varying special needs, individual children over the age of 9, and sibling groups. Sibling groups typically include at least one teen or pre-teen child. Families seeking to adopt children under the age of 9 must be open to more significant medical and developmental needs. Though older children and sibling groups may be predominately healthy, families should be prepared to address developmental, psychological, and emotional challenges.
Families of Colombian heritage may be eligible to adopt a healthy child of any age, depending on the age of the prospective adoptive parents.
Adoption from Colombia
Bethany Christian Services has more than 20 years of experience with adoptions from Colombia. Bethany has a full-service Colombia program, walking with families through each step of the process.
All matches are approved by the Adoption Committees in the IAPAS (adoption houses accredited by ICBF), in conjunction with ICBF.
Once approved, families have access to more information about Colombian waiting children, including important details about the child, what is known about their personal story, photos, and videos (when available). Bethany's in-country coordinator has personally met and assessed many of the waiting children and is available to answer your questions.
